Who We Are
For the last decade I’ve been crafting bespoke furniture for the home. I’ve always preferred a hands-on approach to creativity, whether that’s solving a puzzle or baking bread, so becoming a cabinetmaker just made sense. Three years ago, I decided the time was right and started my own business. I moved into a workshop in the heart of the Pennines and haven’t looked back since.
I founded Woodnote in partnership with my wife Meg. Our idea was simple: do nice work and involve the right people.
We’re part of a great community in Yorkshire and use trusted local suppliers on all our projects. Collaborating with our clients is also integral to our work, it’s the sharing of ideas that makes each of our pieces really special.
Durability is hugely important to us. All of our cabinetry is made using hardwood, sourced where possible from the UK, and crafted to last. Modern life so often demands that we pick up the pace and move on to the next new thing. We wanted Woodnote to support a slower way of living, creating furniture that responds well to the passing of time.
Shaker cabinetry is my speciality but this has evolved over the years. I like to take the best elements from classic design and add modern touches, resulting in stylish, functional pieces that work perfectly in a contemporary space. Practicality is at the forefront of Woodnote. As well as looking good, every piece should serve a purpose. All our work is crafted with a specific home in mind, using intentional design solutions that consider the life of the product once it leaves the workshop.
